What are the responsibilities of a Home Health Aide?

Provide health care services in patient's residences
Assist patients with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living)
- This includes assisting with dressing/undressing, toileting needs and brief or diaper changing, bathing and other grooming needs, laundry, grocery shopping, and food preparation
Perform domestic and household tasks
Transport and accompany patients to the doctor's office or to the hospital
Assist with medication reminders
Monitor patients (including vital signs such as temperature, respiration, etc.) and report on their condition
Maintain patient's care records and document all provided services
Assist patients with mobility and physical therapies/exercises
Instruct and counsel patients and families on diet and exercise
Provide companionship and basic emotional or psychological support
Aides may choose to specialize in pediatrics or geriatrics

What are the requirements to become a Home Health Aide?

Our #1 requirement here at Attending Home Care is an eager and patient attitude, with a drive to work with and help others. HHA certification is a plus, but not required!
